Who Is A Leader?
A
leader is someone who motivates and inspires others to do well. A leader doesn’t have to have a title (eg, prefect, teacher, Team leader, Prime Minister etc) to be a leader, everyone is a leader. Anyone who has an influence ( negative or positive) over another person is a leader eg, older brother is a leader, parents are leaders, if you belong to a team you are a leader.
Their key role is to communicate with others and help them grow as individuals and work together as a team.
Whether You are a youth or an adult being a
heart centered leader is important:. Some of the attributes of a heart centered leader are:
- Active Listener – they listen attentively to a speaker, understand what they are saying, reflect and respond to what is being said and retain the information for later.
- Perfect in Imperfection – they accept who they are as an individual – their good and their flaws. They are confident in themselves and accept others with their flaws and good as well.
- Life Long Learner – they continue to learn new skills, update their knowledge constantly and continue to understand evolving human nature.
- Truthful – they are honest about themselves and about everything they say to others.
- Compassionate – they show concern and sympathy for others. They are kind to others.
- Trustworthy – others can trust them for what they are doing and what they tell others.
- Committed – they are committed to their cause. They don’t give up easily if things get difficult.
- Mindful of words – they are aware of the words they speak. Their words are usually to encourage, uplift and inspire others and not to pull them down or make others upset.
- Approachable – they are accessible to people meaning that people are able to reach out and connect with them easily.
- Help Others Rise – they are always helping others to reach new heights and achieve their goals.
- Empathetic – they have the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.
- Responsible – they take accountability of what they do or have been tasked to do. They don’t blame others when things go wrong.
- Servant Leader – they share the power, they put the needs of others first and help them develop and perform as highly as possible.
- Ability to Fail forward – they accept failure as a steppingstone and make it a development opportunity. They focus on what good they did and work on making right what went wrong. role.
