Self-Esteem, Confidence & Failure?
Self Esteem
Your self-esteem is how you think and feel about yourself. Your self-esteem can affect how much you:
- like and value yourself as a person.
- believe you deserve happiness.
- stand up for yourself when under pressure.
- are willing to try new or difficult things.
- believe you matter and are good enough.
- believe in yourself and the things you can do.
- move on from mistakes without blaming yourself unfairly.
Self – Confidence
Self Confidence is when you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life.
- Negative and Positive experiences in life can affect our self-confidence.
- Your Results at School
- Social Media & Advertisements
- Level of support you receive from people you trust
- Your achievements or skills
- Your body image and how you feel about your appearance ?
- Peer Pressure to fit in.
- Pressure to achieve in exams or sports .
- Being bullied or abused.
- Family or Relationship problems
- Discrimination - race, religion or gender
- Mental or Physical disability
How to grow your self Confidence ?
- Positive Mindset
- Take Risks
- Achieve Goals
- Build Self Image
- Emphasize your Strengths
- Help Others
Failure
Failure is a necessary component of success (NOT the opposite). In fact, our brains grow and develop in important ways whenever failures occurs.
FAIL – First Attempt at Learning
When failure happens, we should :
- Focus on Growth mindset
- Let Failure happen and embrace/celebrate from the learnings
- Learn from the mistakes that happened – Fail forward
