Youth Leadership, Confidence & Wellbeing Workshop

There are about 800,000 young people in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our young people, as the next generation, shape the future of our country. Young people deserve to be supported and empowered to reach their full potential and enhance their mana. Having healthy young people ensures a healthier society for New Zealand, both now and in the future.

There has been a rise in the current challenges faced by our youth in New Zealand as well as within our local communities. Rates of mental distress appear to be rapidly increasing. Low self esteem and the lower confidence to navigate life challenges appear to be on the rise as well.

The findings from the Youth 19 study shows that we can do better in supporting all young people and especially those facing multiple challenges.  Based on the findings, in association with Fiji Girmit Foundation NZ, we are running the ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, GO workshop to empower our youth with their leadership, confidence and well-being, whilst still enjoying a morning with fun, laughter, meeting other youths and of course morning tea.

cam calkeon  - csp

Global Award Winning Inspirational Speaker

Cam Calkoen (pronounced CALKOON) was born with Cerebral Palsy and was told his biggest challenges would be the way he walks and get this... the way he talks, so it's fair to say he's faced a few challenges in life. But, as Cam says, "challenge is in the eye of the beholder and people who see opportunity really do build the dream".

Cam's dreams have seen him represent New Zealand in Athletics, he then took his learning's from the world of sport to the world of business where he became a highly effective charitable fundraiser, a social innovator and now takes versions of the messages we are about to hear throughout the world. He's spoken in Brisbane, Tokyo, Toronto, Amsterdam and New York City and all major cities in NZ.

Cam will share part of the journey with us... to inspire us... to have us thinking why we're here... and what an awesome life not only looks like but can achieve. Cams showreel
